Tap Tap noise from the trunk: Found.
So, went on a LONG road trip the other day and along the way I noticed that on some bumps there would be a single "Tap" noise from the trunk area. Sometimes from hitting a bump with only one side of the car, sometimes with both, and rarely when making a turn.
It annoyed me because it was a clear and audible tap that sounded like something loose hitting the trunklid or fender, but when I removed everything the sound continued. I found it last night. The Emergency release pull for people inside the trunk was making the noise. Turns out it will snap into a bracket where it's mounted to keep the tapping noise from happening. I guess when a friend was asking about it he pulled it from the stowed position and left it loose. So if you get a singular "Tap" from the rear when hitting a bump, check to see if that glow in the dark handle is loose. |
Mine was pulled off the holder a well. Thanks!

I made sure it's put in place but it was still making noise. I even taped it to make sure it won't move or touch anything, but it's still making noise. I wonder whats making noise in mine.

Yeah that was one issue people were having, but the more widespread one seems to be the third brake light hitting the back window (theory) or something loose in that area.

Sometimes these little threads actually make a big difference, thanks for posting.

Sometimes when I skim through the forums, I mistakingly read "Fap Fap noise from the trunk." :bellyroll:

Well, seems my noise is back. Guess the handle wasn't it. But I can still see it making a noise as it bounces around. So I'll leave this thread as-is.
I did notice that it seemed like the tapping noise wasn't noticeable when it rains. It was raining the night I fixed the handle. Time to start hunting. |

The 2 styrofoam pieces that hold your tow hook, jack, and other tire change pieces are not completely secured. The will bounce and make noise on speed bumps and some other bumps

2. I snapped the emergency handle back in it's holder, I think this should do it: <------Didn't work, I taped it too 3. Put ear plugs in the rear deck creases it worked for one ride and started again, I think I need to stick something it it... (DOESN"T WORK) 4. I tried opening and shutting the back seats back and the noise is gone, I think the red indicator that it's not locked in place is not a good indicator because even when you think you snapped it in place, sometimes it's still loose. AWESOME no more rattle! |
