Reverting to stock tune on Ecutek

Not that I’m going to do it but just curious to find out how this gets done with Ecutek. I know with OFT it’s simply just reprogram the stock ROM back to the ECU.

The Ecutek software can download all of the stock maps through the Ecutek update (you might have already downloaded them all if you opted to in a previous run of the update module). You would just pick the stock file that matches your calibration ID and flash it like any other aftermarket tune.

So it’ll just be like ecu programming but with the stock file instead of custom tune? Which folder do those stock tune files reside in? Do I have to erase the Ecutek license in my cars ecu?

You dont have to erase the licence to program to stock. Ecutek will flash the stock tune into car and licence will remain embedded in ecu, such that you could reflash the ecu to a tuned rom again with ecutek later if you wanted to.

Flashing to "stock" with ecutek also releases the ecu lock ie returns the access key sequences to normal so opensource or dealer flash tools can access and write to ecu.

However the ecutek licence is still embedded in stock rom so the CVN calibration verification number like a checksum is not stock and can be used to detect that ecu has been flashed evenp though its stock .

In addition if you or dealer writes to ecu while the ecutek stock rom is present in ecu the ecutek licience will be lost. You would then need to purchase a new licience or ask if ecutek would re creit the licience they usually want dealer paperwork showing dealer reflashed ecu

I think he's asking how to switch between the tunes:

I’m confused with the switching map thing. I simply want to reprogram ECU with stock tune so it won’t throw any CEL when I swap back the factory header.

You have to flash the stock tune back onto the car, after you exchange the ethanol in your tank to gasoline, and after you take the header and flex fuel off of the car.

The actual process of flashing back stock tune will be same like flashing custom tune revision?

Identical except picking a stock rom.

There is a way to completely remove the Ecutek license and put the ECU back to stock, you need to add some letters to the stock rom file before flashing it if I'm not mistaken.

@steve99 will probably know more details?

Correct you can completly erase licoence and bfe 100% stock , but your ecutek licience is lost and they will likely want money to renew it, so its not something you normally do.

Sometimes to sell car back to dealer people want to take it 100% stock.

Do you know what is the letters that need to be added to the flash file? I’ve done it once and don’t remember.
