No 2nd Gear After New Parts

Hey guys. I couldn't get my car to go into second gear after I installed the Exedy OEM kit - flywheel, pressure plate, clutch, and TOB. Refilled with Motul 300 fluid. I've checked the shift lever cap and it's installed correctly.

Symptoms:
1.) Won't go into 2nd gear and felt like it's not there anymore.
2.) 1st gear felt like 3rd gear. Reverse gear works.

Any help will be much appreciated and thanks!

Not sure about the 2nd, but a buddy just replaced his clutch/tob/etc as well and had 2nd gear issues. The reverse lockout can interfere with 2nd gear if not reinstalled exactly right. Might be a good place to start.

I'll mess with the reverse lock-out again.

finch1750: reverse lock-out .. something in gearbox, or on shifter handle or anything more specific as to what exactly needs extra attention?

Let me see if I can get my buddy to chime in. I only know cuz I drove his car and 2nd would be locked out sometime and thats the reason he gave me.

My problem stems from the reverse lockout guide that is bolted down under the shifter boot. It's basically the tab that prevents you from going into reverse until you lift the lockout on the shifter. If it's not aligned properly you will have issues with running into the "gate" when trying to shift into 2nd. When you shift into second try and make sure you go straight back and not slightly to the left. If it goes into 2nd it's the lockout tab.

Can you get into 2nd with the lockout raised?

Nah.. give it to @finch1750. He had the answer first. I was just adding the manual page to make the job easier.
