Shifter rattle gone after bushings/springs but now back again?
As the title states, a few weeks back I installed the perrin/whiteline bushing combo, mtec springs and diff bushings as well. The best part was that the shifter rattle was gone at WOT. Now, I'm guessing everything has broken in nicely, softened up a tad and the rattle is back. Granted, it's not as irritating as before, but still irritating. Anyone else gone through the same recurrence? What did you do to fix it?

I don’t know that I’ve had it come and go like that. I do have a bit of high rpm rattle that I’m hoping to get rid of on my STI shifter. I’ve seen recently where an aftermarket reverse lockout lever can help get rid of it. I’m thinking about trying out the Raceseng version soon.

Gotta get up in between the gearshift tube and the cable with some foam rubber or something that survives lockout usage.

It might also be a candidate for damping grease. I've played with their cleanroom products and could see trying PG-44A in this case.

@StraightOuttaCanadaEh same thing happened to my car. At least, a lot less rattle after bushings combo install.

IIRC there were two TRD short shifter kits, JDM & USDM ones, no? Is that attributable to both?

http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/trd-...-kit-1465.html The instructions look like the USDM instructions that came with my TRD intake and were clearly typed out on the bottom that it was produced in california or texas or somewhere like that. |
