Oil pan to crossmember clearance on Vorshlag mounts.
Looking for info on clearance between the oil pan, and crossmember. I have a set of Vorshlag mounts but may sell them due to changing the engine choice. I would like to build a new set of mounts built in the same style. So I was just inquiring about the clearance people had below the pan when using the Vorshlag kit as I would be building something similar. Or chopping them up to get them to work.

there is zero clearance between the oil pan and crossmember... even notching out the wings will give minimal clearance

The pan bottom sits on the crossmember? How deep is the pan where it contact s crossmember. I'm going dry sump my pan is
1 3/4" deep. Thanks for this info. |
I measured and it looks like mine is 2 inches deep where its sits over the crossmember. so if yours is 1 3/4 deep, you should be fine. although you still may have to notch out the wings to clear the steering crossmember.

nice. mine is a wet sump, so I have no idea what the dry sump set up looked like. lol

It's a aftermarket unit. I'm going to try to push it back to the firewall or through it a little a flat pan will help in that regard. Do you think your pan is going to last long term, and or are you going to fine tune the fitment?

I do believe it will last with where it sits now. I just did a 200 mile cruise through some fun back roads with my kc group today. Lots of high revs and curves. I came back home and everything looks great. Nothing went wrong. Oil pan still has the same clearance as before. I do plan on FI sometime in the near future with no plans of changing the oil pan.
Im a little over 5k miles on the swap. |
Nice. Glad to see people out there enjoying swapped builds.
