Engine internals for 500-600 HP turbo
Hi All
Looking to make 500-600 engine horsepower on a GTX3582R platform. Currently running a smaller turbo on stock internals making 241 rear wheel kW (probably just on 400 engine HP) on e85. Just bent a rod so now will build the engine and put on a larger turbo. Intended use is daily driving and track days. Will be retired to be a track-only car in the near future. Am not planning to drag race it. Components I already have: - Motec M150 - stock DI - bosch 1050cc port injectors - flexfuel sensors. Will run e85 all the time unless in an emergency and just need to get home. Appropriate fuel pumps and surge tank etc. - Holinger sequential, LSD, brakes, suspension etc all sorted. Parts I've decided on: - JE 10.5:1 86.5mm pistons - ARP head studs (Custom Age if possible, else S2000) - ARP S2000 main block studs - Brian Crower I Beam with Custom Age fasteners unless I can find Pauter in stock at a good price. To be sourced and looking for ideas: - valve, spring and valve guides. Do I even need to do this based on my HP goals or stay with stock? Rockers? - gaskets. Leaning to OEM - recommendations on whether to do a closed deck. Overkill? Will it add longevity or is it just unnecessary? - what are people doing for oil pumps and getting some more pressure at high revs? I'm based in Melbourne Australia but will be in the US next week. Hoping to grab it all as a package whilst I'm there. This stuff is damn expensive in this hemisphere.... |
500 hp you say, well to be honest it could be done but, with that kind of power goals your better off doing a V8 swap & super/turbocharged.
At the end of the day you'll be spending the same amount of money. Unless you want to drop down to a nice 300-350hp, for our platform it's easily attainable and track proven. |
Don't forget a gear set as well, or at least a spare transmission sitting around when the existing one goes.

GSC beehive springs, OEM gasket set, L19 or 625+ head studs. Main studs are not that big of a deal on these motors. King rod/main bearings. reimax oil pump gear

I don't know any daily driven twin at that power level. All of them are constantly being fixed or they are already dead. It is not worth it. Get a Corvette.

Show me facts that a 500chp twin can't be daily driven if done with quality components and most importantly a top notch tune. 500chp is only about 425whp. Some have run around 400whp on stock blocks for a decent amount of time(obviously others have blown the engine) but for a built motor that seems well within the attainable level. It's not like the guys going for 700whp. |

I can express my opinion wherever I want and I think I am a little closer to 500hp than you to talk about it. I would buy a Corvette if I wanted a 500hp sports car. This car would never be as a good as a Corvette with that much power. Here, wrote again just for you. |

I wouldn't want a Vette, because a Vette will never be as light as a 86. |

If weight equated directly to traction and performance, manufacturers wouldn't be fighting to reduce the weight of their cars! |
