What do you think?

I'm not really in to chrome and since I'm doing a ceramic coat on my headers and other exhaust parts should I do same on the muffler. I need input, should I?

here is what it looks now

Oh my.. Keep it chrome. >_>

NESW20 05-13-2011 01:04 AM

i think both ways look good! however, if polished isn't your thing, then absolutely make it stealthy.

I prefer the low-profile all black, myself. I heard it's more cop-friendly too, since it doesn't stand out.

Midship Runabout 05-13-2011 01:45 AM

I hate chrome

Chrome looks good in a few places. IMO at least.

The exhaust is one of those places I find it looks good.

Wheels are not.

yeah I'm not really in to bling also its just I cant find a good cat back thats already have a ceramic coating on it.

rims with chrome is ok as long as its original and not DUB out

Chrome has no place on exhaust components!

You guys are talking about polished stainless steel. Can look awesome on headers/turbo manis if it's good stainless (321) and heat cycles to the rainbow-look (and is oil free before it's heated). Low-grade stainless will pit and have oxidation (rust) under high-heat conditions.

Forget the exhaust....can I have that bumper cover?:D

On topic though, I'd keep it the way it is, but thats my taste. If you have an itch to try something different, go for it!

my bumper has a lot more dings & cuts now its sad, on topic I have one try doing this if I paint it thats it no going back but I am coating the header and some parts of the exhaust but still not sure about the muffler part.

Abflug 05-13-2011 07:19 AM

if the bumper is black keep it polished otherwise I think it would look crappy!

or something like this =]

In my opinion, I'd keep it polished stainless. To me, the flat black ceramic coating just makes it look dirty and half-assed. Like someone decided to paint it, but gave up after giving it a coat of primer.

VenomRush 05-13-2011 02:51 PM

i think it looks tacky, keep it chrome

WingsofWar 05-13-2011 03:46 PM

i haven't seen any chrome in this thread..

Polished > chrome

chrome has a different finish over polished. Just because both surfaces are reflective doesn't mean they are the same.

Plus clear reflective surfaces like polished aluminum or chrome help bring out vibrancy and complexity of certain colors. I don't hate chrome, i hate it when its used inappropriately or with ill taste for aesthetics. Like when used to contrast colors...thats a no no.

If you want to keep your car clean, with a bright feel to it then keep your exhaust muffler and tip unpainted. If you want to have a dark and dirty feel to it..then paint it satin black. Notice i said satin black and not flat black because they are two different finishes.
