Koni Yellow/RCE Tarmac Review
Setup: Koni Yellows, RCE Tarmacs, SPC Lower Controls Arms, SPC Front Camber Bolts, 17x8 O.Z. UltraLeggerras with 225/45/17 Michelin PSS, Camber (See Picture below)
Just installed today. I was originally going to go with Bilstein B8s but they were back-ordered through June and my stock suspension was shot at 73k miles. This is for my daily driver that sees occasional auto x use. Ride I was extremely surprised and pleased with how well this setup feels on the road. I was nervous it would be overly harsh or bumpy but it is neither. It handles pot hole ridden NY roads extremely well and I immediately realized just how worn my stock suspension was. From what I remember, it is very close, if not better than the stock suspension when new. The Konis are set to the softest setting so that is probably helping a bit. Handling Wow, wow, wow! To think I used to think the stock suspension didn't have any body roll. The car is so much more composed and just begs to be pushed. Towards the limit and at high speeds, understeer is greatly reduced and the car is just so much eager to turn but the limit is so high I probably haven't even come close to it yet. Will need to wait until I auto x to really tell how it compares. Only downside is at low speeds, the car doesn't seem to rotate quite as well due to the flatter suspension and sticky tires. Aesthetics Much much better than stock but from a purely cosmetic perspective, it could use another 1/2 inch to an inch more drop. It looks like a sports car should come from the factory but doesn't look noticeably lowered if that is what you're going for. I'm fine with it as it considered to be the optimal height for handling purposes but if you're looking for that lowered look, keep that in mind. Overall I'm extremely happy with the setup. I'm glad I got to experience the stock setup but regret not doing this sooner. Thanks to @Racecomp Engineering for making a great spring and helping out with camber suggestions. Doing it right. - Andrew |
Nice setup. I had the same for 70k miles before my Konis blew. I’m still using the Tarmac springs nearly 100k miles later!
