That's not a schedule specifically for the FRS/BRZ/GT86, but just Subarus in general since there's reference to engine oils for turbo motors, front differentials, etc.. As such, the transmission oils cover both transaxle (GL5 rating to cover hypoid gears), as well as our transmissions (LV Gear oil API GL-4)

I'm using 0w40 mobil one euro spec. The car makes more noise at cold starts, and seems to take a bit longer to bring the oil temps up. However, the oil and water temps stay right around 192 F during normal driving. For spirited driving oil temps are between 220-240 F, but come back down a lot quicker when cruising.

20w50 seems really thick, so unless you live in an area with a really warm climate or humidity, you probably don't want to run something that thick unless the motor is running a turbo or supercharger.

The form seems general, but the last column on the right is the FA20 engine, right?

I see what you mean, but that would be a huge contradiction to the North American literature, as well as what Toyota USA themselves claim is the appropriate oil to use when replacing the factory fill. It's far more than just the difference between 10W-30 versus 10W-40; going from GL3/4 to GL5 is closer to gas versus diesel. GL3/4 is compatible with yellow metals; GL5 is NOT.

I am fully agree!

Anyway, the owner's manual says the same thing in Europe 0w-20 and API GL-3. It was amazing for me that's why I shared it.
