Not accelerating
Hey guys, trying to see if I can get some direction as to what's going on.
If I try to accelerate quickly in 4th or higher, my engine revs but the car doesn't accelerate. It's worse in 5th and 6th than in 4th. Is the tranny dying or is it something else? Car is manual transmission and turbo. Thanks! |

Clutch worn if you are manual transmission. Fluid or worn if you are auto. |

It is recommended you upgrade your clutch if you go turbo, for exactly the reason you are experiencing now..e.g worn clutch-too much torque for stock clutch  |

I suggest that you do this simple test. Warm up the car, set the emergency brake, put the car in 2nd gear, rev to about 3000 rpms, slowly let the clutch out. If the engine still runs with the clutch out, most likely the clutch disk is worn out. If the engine dies, the clutch still has some life. humfrz |
Clutch. All up down and sideways.
Classic symptoms of clutch shaved down to nothing. Higher gears apply even more torque to a surface that cannot cope with it anymore. |
Oh this is an easy one!
What everybody else said. |
I know a few local guys who upgraded their clutch right away after boosting their car, because it would slip under boost. I don't think the stock clutch disc can handle much more power than stock.
I know everyone has already said clutch, but it's clutch that you understand that it is your clutch that is not clutching. I mean, probably. |
Sounds like your clutch is slipping.
