Where to buy a partial oil cooler kit?
 

Strange request for advice here.

I had installed a CX Racing oil cooler a few years ago and the fittings and sandwich plate left somewhat to be desired. The heat exchanger included brackets allowing the mount directly behind my intercooler. This was a need in my case since my intercooler fills the entire opening in the grille.No I didn't choose this product for cheapness. My alternative would have been an HKS system which is really nice except it requires cutting a big hole in the passenger side wheel well liner.

Anyway the lines leaked where the AN fittings pivoted after a short while so I disconnected it.

Now I want to order new braided 4' lines with AN -8 male fittings both ends and a quality sandwich plate.

Where's a good place to order a partial oil cooler?

RacerX Fabrication sells just their sandwich plate. For the line and fittings you will have to go trough a Jegs or Summit, or find a company locally that can make them for you.

Just get 10' of hose and the fittings you need and put it together. It is recommended to get the fittings of the same brand as the hose that you get. As stated above, jegs or summit are good sources. I just put together an oil cooler using summit brand lines and fittings and after a few weeks of use I'd say I recommend the summit brand -AN stuff. Of course there are other good options.

As for the plate, the Mocal plate seems to be well liked. That's what I used and I'm not really impressed. If I were to do it again I'd try the racerx plate to see if the flow path looks any better on it.

Summit Racing or similar vendors that sell parts individually. There's a bunch of them. Some of them are mentioned by the other posters.

Mocal plate and 10' of hose with all fittings is $384+ at Racer Parts Wholesale. That's about $1,000,000 Canadian landed. LOL

This requires the lines and fittings to be assembled still and I prefer not to buy specialized tools for a one time use. I will check the others.

I guess it depends on the fittings. I'm not advocating one way or another, but I went with the slightly bulkier, reusable style. No special tools. Using the same Startlite hose as well.

Bummer about the cost, though. :|

That was including reusable fittings. I thought you need a special tool to press the fittings onto the hose.

You don't really "need" a special tool to assemble basic -AN fittings. As for the cost, most of the expense isnin the thermostatic plate. I believe the Mocal runs about $180. The racerx plate is $120 and if you want cheap you could go with the derale option. I actually have an unused derale plate I'd sell you below retail. I was going to use it but once I saw it I decided to invest in the Mocal. The $384 price including lines is really high. Like everyone is saying, get some -AN fittings and line from summit or jeggs or some other racing supply vendor.

Not at all. Just need a light smidge of grease in the tube and the thread. Tighten down until only a couple threads show between the collar and insert. There will be a gap.

Aluminum wrenches are available if you care about the finish. IDGAF
