Romraider wont open the files from OFT
3 Attachment(s)
Hi, I was able to already load my car's orig ECU file on romraider, but when I try to open the XMLs from OFT's download section, I get this error.
I also noticed that the XMLs file of OFT are divided into OFT_ and RR_ files. My particular calid is not present in the OFT_ but is in the RR_ is this ok? |
Try opening the tuned rom and see if you get the same error.
The included definitions aren't meant to be used with original roms. |

I downloaded the java 8 151 and 152 updates at 32 bit already. Any other java i need? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Recently I had a problem with RomRaider. Installed a new Java-version. Reinstalled RomRader, etc.
Try going to C:\Users\<YOUR-USERNAME>\.RomRaider and delete (or rename) "settings.xml" Then restart RomRaider. It fixed my problems. Quote:

All show that same Error Loading Caught Exception: Invalid Byte 1 of 1 UTF-8 sequence. Also tried with another computer and same thing happens.... Is this a rom raider problem? its driving me nuts! I've also already tried installing old, new/ just old, just new versions of java to get the same result. took me 5 hours of trial last night and nothing |
As far as I see using google the errors has something to do with the xml.
Tried the rom and def on my system and it works without error. Are you just opening the xml file or did you load it in the definition manager? https://kek.gg/i/6WVRkF.png |

Question however, say after I do data logging, and would like to make the changes. There would be no point in loading stock and stg1 anymore right? So I assume I would open the current Stg1 logged tune on the car, and another source tune? or is it possible to simply edit the values on the stg1 tune? Im just a bit confused because i am reading through wayno's guide to dialing in your tune and at some examples, the copy has to come from another tune, where in some, it seems like you can just copy straight from an excel file or even just edit the numbers alone. If in theory I do edit the numbers, all I have to do is "save as new image" and that new rom should be ready to load onto the OFT to car? |

BUT in the meantime if you want to look through & adjust parameters (like the idle speeds, fan actuation temperatures, or flat foot shifting for example) work from the stage 1 tune that you put onto the car (no need to bother with the stock tune any longer), just be sure to save the new modified file as a different name, to retain the original stage 1 file if you need to start over, or reference the original values. if you want to be extra sure, you can download the tune you applied to the ecu from the tablet to your desktop/laptop. then modify that one. I only say that because modifying tunes can be dicey if you are grabbing random tunes off the internets. I recently adjusted mine to rescale the maf a little & did the quiet cold start adjustment. after I made those adjustments, file> save as> "modified stg 2 93.bin" but you can rename it to whatever you want. i am by no means a pro, but i recently went thru a ton of reading on several different threads. |
