Dirty Clutch Fluid, leaking slave cylinder?
I flushed my clutch fluid a few months ago because the clutch pedal was feeling abnormal. The clutch fluid was kinda dirty but it was the oem clutch fluid so that was expected. Today I checked the clutch fluid, and it was already really dirty

If it makes a difference, i had the the clutch pedal adjustment done, but after driving it for a year i moved it back to the stock position. Could that have caused some dirt trapped in the lines to move up into the reservoir since there is now full movement of the plunger in the slave cylinder? |
If it was a failing slave cylinder you'll see the mess.
This is just my guess, the slave casting is not fully cleaned when installed from the factory. Should it affect performance? I don't think so. But you know o rings and what nots are the fail points. As for the pic, that's normal. that dirt sticking to the grease used for the pivot fork. If it bothers you that much you can drain it and fill it. It won't take that much or that long. |
Dirty Clutch Fluid, leaking slave cylinder?
I’ve seen a failing slave or master cause contamination before. The rubber breaks down and has to go somewhere. Do you have a mess near your clutch pedal?
|
Oh, I'd just flush it again and as long as the clutch works proper, I wouldn't worry about it.

No mess at the clutch pedal, just weird that it would get dirty so fast. Thanks the help guys

Maybe the cap is not sealing correctly?

Oh, it's fine. Would need to disassemble and clean both cylinders to get a totally clean fill. Otherwise a bit of the old stuff always remains and contaminates the new.
The clean plastic at the bottom of your reservoir is clearly visible. No worries. |
