How to identify if car has BRZedit/Tactrix Tune?

Trying to figure out if my car was previously tuned with these programs. It's for sure not ECUTEK because i got the error message:

"Error Message: Programming has failed. This ECU may need to be programmed again before the car will start.Error was: Security Access: 36 exceedNumberOfAttempts"

I'm also certain it's not tuned by OFT because OFT can't even READ the car right now. Car also does not have an existing ECUTEK license.

Is there a way to identify which program was previously used? I'm going to be reaching out to different tuners this week to see if they can remotely help but it's going to be a long shot.

Any BRZedit tuners or Tactrix users have input? Thanks.

ECUFlash has the ability to compare two ROMs. You could use a Tactrix cable to dump the current ROM and then compare it to an OEM ROM to see if there are any differences.

Ok ill assume you have ecutek cavle and tried to write.

So yes you can asume its not ecutek tune :-)

The only other common tune system that locks ecu for read\write is brzedit.

Oft and tactrix\ecuflash do not lock ecu

Try doing a query ecu with ecutek or oft or tactrix ,ecuflash ecu info read it will likely read the calibration id. If it does it confirms conmection to ecu.

You can pretty well assume its brzedit tune if ecutek wont write to it.

Hopefully ecutek didnt burn you licience trying to write to the locked ecu.

Your can either replace ecu , or find someone with brzedit to overwrite it. Or get onto ecutek in england they can crak the brzedit lock for you, but they might charge not sure, they will need remote access to your pc

@steve99 you are once again the super guru to this. I contacted ecutek UK and they issued me another license since my previous attempt to write over the existing tune failed & ate my license.

Im scheduled to have them remote access my computer 6am Thanksgiving morning (im so glad they dont have Thanksgiving lol) :party0038:

Hopefully they are able to solve all my issues. Its been a real headache trying to figure out this tuning thing. Ill report back if ecutek is successful :party0030:

hopefully ecutek can still unlock the brzedit locks, as brzedit guys altered their locking technique a while back. will be interested to hear if they are successful or you have to send ecu to them for full SH boot mode reset of ECU.

Yeah i hope they are successful. The tune dates back at least 1.5-2 years. It'll also be interesting if the car wasn't tuned via BRZedit... crossing my fingers for tomorrow morning!
