LS swap oil pan
Have we figured out the best choice on the oil pan yet?
I have the later GTO pan GM #12599397 on my engine already but if there is a better choice I’d like to swap it out before I put the engine in. |
I would say the earlier GTO pan or one of the swap pans would be a good idea. As it stands, I am going to have to remove mine and have it cut/welded to clear a sway bar.

The Sikky swap pan fits well but I have seen some leaky corners and what not from the welds. And the oil filter fittings are very close to the subframe depending on how you tilt the engine

@DustinS your GTO pan hangs pretty low right? |

Yeah. I've hit it on something already... Luckily just a brush and didn't hurt anything. I have just been lazy getting my undertray cut to fit.

guess I was lucky that I never hit the oil pan when the cover was off. I now have the metal pan on... had to hammer out the front part to keep the oil pan from rubbing. Other than that, the gto oil pan has done just fine.... but don't forget to cut down the two wings in the back that slightly hit the steering column!

Good stuff to know starting an ls 1 swap this month. I know about the transmission tunnel modifications but have been reading mixed things about certain other clearances. Steering rack and sway bar are my biggest concerns.

You guys have any good pics of that gto pan in the car?...I want to see what the ground clearance and other clearances look like.
