BRZ Head Unit Issues since iOS 11

Anyone else run into this? My phone has been acting up since the most recent update. It just keeps acting like I’m plugging and unplugging it, which is a problem since I stream music via USB. It’s not a problem with cables or the charging port since this doesn’t happen if I use a car charger and I’ve now tried this with four cables to replicate the problem.

Anyone else?

if anyone else has this problem: turning "Do Not Disturb while driving" from "When connected to Bluetooth" to "Manual" seems to have fixed it.

I've been fine on iOS 11 with an iPhone 6 Plus in a 2017 BRZ.

Good info on the "Do not disturb while driving" setting. Thanks! I had that shizz turned off.

I haven't updated (which at this point you should only do at your own risk). But I have some suggestions how to hopefully fix it.

First see if it is your connection by connecting to your computer. The ability to charge doesn't use all the connections that are used to transmit data so by connecting to a computer and syncing and backing up should rule out your phone connection.

If this doesn't reveal any issues then you should try streaming music via audio out headphone jack and make sure that works. If that isn't an ideal solution you can look into using Bluetooth to wirelessly connect to your HU

If all else fails you will need to perform a full back up of your phone and make sure everything is saved then do a full restore, issues like this can be caused by an error in the update process. If the issue continues to persist then it is likely due to the latest version of IOS 11, in which case you can just update as soon as the next one comes along to hopefully fix your issue. You can also try and log a ticket with Apple so they know IOS 11 may be causing these sort of issues and they can investigate and hopefully get a fix in the next update.

Hope that helps.

My '17 HU has never been particularly usable with my iPhone plugged in via USB. I use BT. Early releases of iOS 11 caused me BT issues at first, but things seem to have stabilized.
