Help! Tank full of E85 2017 Stock BRZ what OFT tune to use?

Hello everyone,

I have a small emergency. I filled up my gas tank with E85 without knowing what OFT tune to use (Like an idiot). My car is stock aside from a catback. Shiv sent me the tunes as I was shipped an older OFT not updated with the 2017 tunes. He sent me 4 tune files. None of the info mentioned anything about UEL vs EL headers and only one tune file has E85 in the name. Hopefully someone here received the same tunes as me and knows what I should be running?

Stage 1 v3.01 K00C.bin = he said is for stock header (not sure if ok with E85, what my car is currently flashed with)

Stage 2 v3.01 K00C.bin = he said is for catted

Stage 2+ E85 v3.01 K00C.bin = he said is for catless (also reads E85 in file name)

Stage 2+ v3.01 K00C.bin = he said is for catless (I'm guessing 91-93 gas)

The one that says E85.

The other ones are for gasoline. He probably only sent you tunes of your header type (EL/UEL. Assume you are stock?).

The other tunes you are not running, are probaly for:
1) Stage 2 (probably a typo if he wrote catted) catless.
2) Stage 2+ catless and for better gas.

You need stg 2+ E85.

Here is his email notes...they seem incomplete.

"Tune files attached. For a car with a stock header, please; use the Stage 1 tune. For a catted header, the Stage 2 tune and for a catless header, the Stage 2+ tune :)"

Missing info about UEL & EL and what gas to run aside from one file name with E85 but that's only for catless not stock catted:(

Yes I'm stock.

If you run E85 the engine won't knock, so it doesn't matter if you use the E85 tune with stock or aftermarket catted or non catted header (except for performance differences).

There is no UEL or EL tunes on the V3.0 tunes. They are one in the same now. The only differences would have been subtle before anyways.

You would need what is now the Stage 2 E85 tune. Stage 2 = catted aftermarket header(will work for stock too). Stage 2+ = catless aftermarket header.

Update = So I went with the Stage 2+ E85 tune even though it's for catless, need to go to work so short on options.

So problem is idle is not very stable as I've driven ove 20mils now (my commute is 26miles)

I followed the basics and have been keeping it under 3500 rpm for the 20+mile trip but the LTFT at idle is still 36.XX% is this something to be concerned with? What I've read is that LTFT should be around 10% idle?

Please advise all knowing forum gods ^_^

As per your other thread, it sounds like you are still on a petrol tune. If you go into the tuning section of your OFT as if you were about to re-flash the car, to the point where you choose which tune to flash it will have an asterisk next to the currently flashed tune.

The differences in AVCS between EL and UEL were substantial.

Yup, double checked and definitely on the Stage 2+ E85 tune. Also now having ECL pop up. I've been just clearing with the OFT but I will get the ECL code next time it pops up as it's gone off 3 times in about 30 miles of driving:(

ECL is the dreaded P0171 code, so I'm running Lean, whatever that means? Might be late in the notification but I'm a complete noob, so all help is much appreciated:)

E85 requires 35-40% more fuel than E0, the stock rom can only scale fuel about 30% before it throws too lean. It's 99.9% likely the fuel tables in the rom haven't been scaled in the MY17 rom. You will need to post the rom here for us to check.

Rom? Do you mean the .bin tune file? Sorry I'm still learning things.

Yep, there's minimal changes in that file compared to stock. I'm guessing shiv probably overwrote the E85 file with one of the petrol files by mistake, which is easy to do. Can you post one of the Stg2 petrol files to compare?

I should also mention it includes a stupid change he makes to stock to reduce the max LTFT at WOT from 40% to 4%.
So do not drive the car on this file, it will never not run super lean at WOT.
