Random beeping.

So last month I replaced my battery to a Mazda Miata battery. No I don't recommend it. But it is smaller and powerful at 25lbs its lighter but not as light as I'd like.

That's when I started to notice a new sound. I get a quick beep in the interior only when in motion. Sometimes a single beep sometimes 3 or 4 beeps quickly in a row. Sometimes a few seconds between sometimes a few minutes or longer between beeping. Also it sounds like it's coming from a multitude of locations. Front left or right or from behind me. (Yes I have the back seat laid down)

Nope nothing in or near my passenger seat. No other lights or indications. When someone does sit in the passenger seat srs airbag system appears to work normally. All other things that make the beeper sound are working normally.

So before I take the passenger seat out and disable the seat sensor just to rule that out. Has anyone else had this or heard of this issue.

2013 BRZ Limited 67k miles. No I'm not taking it to the dealer.

So why don't you recommend the miata battery? Blaming a battery for your problems? Poor battery only has one job and you don't like it.

Just too heavy for its size is all. If you really want a small light battery go for the nicad options. Other than that it's perfect. Great cranking power and it fits with our stock bolts to hold it in place.

I wasn't blaming the battery for this issue just mentioning due to it was disconnected for about an hour. Now I have this issue.

this might sound obvious but have you had any work done to your headunit? maybe some wire in the back is touching a metal backing plate and causing some beep to go through the speakers. or maybe do you have something connected to the headunit (cd, bluetooth, aux)? I don't see how beeping could be coming from different parts of the car if it isn't coming from the speakers.

Wouldn't buckling the passenger seatbelt be easier than disabling the sensor? (That should make that particular beeping stop anyway)

No flashing key light on the dash? Could be your key battery running low.

Nope not that either. Tried both keys, and I've had that last year. The light on the key flashes too when the batt is low. No lights on the dash in the cluster nor the airbag or seatbelt for passenger flicker or come on when beeping happens.

Head unit hasn't been out in well over a year. Last time it was out was for the rear camera add I did wow a long time ago.

The sound coming from different parts of the car could just be my age and aviation hearing playing tricks on me. And remember this only happens when the car is in motion. And seems to be more frequent under higher G's. or bumps even small bumps. But not always.

I hate intermittent problems.

Finally found my stereo system cap had come loose from its mounts. So besides the giant ground wire. It wants the case of the unit to be solidly grounded too. Lol
