Is a oft custom e tune worth it?

Hey everyone, with all my mods added and stage 2 el e85 tune, I make 205whp. My question is, if I get a custom tune from shiv/oft how much additional hp can I get?

steve99 08-11-2017 03:26 AM

If your car stock was around 170hp on that dyno, then probably very little more to be gained , E85 and bolt on is about 40hp over stock with good components

No one does much better than that

What mods do you have to get 205whp? Just aftermarket EL header with e85?

tomei el headers, full tomei exhaust, throttle body spacer, silicone inlet tube, k&n air filter, pulleys, greddy snorkel. i have other mods but are lightweight accessories and dont add hp.

Those are good numbers

I would hoping to make at least 15extra hp with the custom tune but never mind, not worth it.

Hey all, sorry to necro this thread.

Considering e-tuning in the near future. Some questions.
- Wouldn't you still need to do a before/after pull on a dyno? Otherwise, you wouldn't really know how much you gained in WHP ?
- Would it be more cost efficient to find a tuner who uses OFT and can do the dyno pulls for you?

Yes to be sure of any gain you would need to do before and after dyno runs

Its often jard to fine tuners who will use oft as most tuners want to lock tunes and oft doesnt lock tunes or lock ecu.

On an NA car with the mods oft tune is designed for ie headers and srock intake and if your on usa fuels any gains will be minimal

Appreciate the response, Steve.

Though minimal, I would consider any gains. Do you think with a custom e-tune + intake + MAF rescaling, I could get at least 5 more WHP and an improvement over the curve on a before-pull?

Looking to see everyone's input on differences of:
Current Setup - UEL/Full exhaust, 93, stg 2+ v4.03
Add --> Intake+E-Tune
Then Add --> E-85+E-Tune

(i'm guessing with the service, they could make a gas & E85 version for my setup, if anyone can confirm?)

Thank you,

Thank you,

I just got done with my e-tune last week. Took 6months, 1month per revision as it took 6 revisions to dial in my setup. although currently been using revision 5 as my IAM was constantly dropping. At 1IAM it pulled slightly harder but always dropped to about .9 making it pull less then 5th revision at 1IAM. But they said they where done making changes and I could use either revision. When it cools down I may try revision 6 again.

Mods effecting tune are grimmspeed intake, BPB, ace 250, hks double res fp, CSG mxp catback. Car daily drives way better and pulls way harder huge noticeable difference. Still some things here and there I feel could be improved especially for DD. Do to that, lack of customer support when I tried contacting/asking questions, and it taking 6months. Wish I would have just ecutek at a tuning shop, or maybe a custom DT tune.

Ay gain will depend on how far "off" the current tune is. OFT basectunes were developed on uel header and your using uel.

You using good 93 fuel its likey knock correction will be small

So its just going to depend on how far fueling is off due intake or car variances

Its difficult to say but 5-10 hp is not out of the question if for example you were running way eicher than commanded afr

Um. It took you 6 months to get an E-Tune from OFT? Wow. Lol. That's absolutely terrible service.
