Crush washers OEM vs Belmetric or other
 
Going to do trans and diff fluid service, looked up the parts numbers on Toyota / Subaru dealership websites and they want $12 shipping for a $1 washer. :eyebulge:

I'm hearing I could try a Belmetric washer and save money?

The stock washers I took off the transmission were virtually identical to the Belmetric GA18X24T.
The stock washers from the differential were similar to Belmetric GCA18X24 but not copper. To be honest, if you wanted to you could even use the same ones used for the transmission. Just make sure to use a torque wrench to get proper torque to 'crush' the washers.
Yes? How well would these hold up. Spending $2.20 vs $25 at dealership.

You could go to the dealership parts counter and buy it in person. If it's a ways away, I'd suggest calling ahead to make sure they have it.

@Spuds the Subaru dealership parts counter barely had a clue. When he started looking up parts for an AWD vehicle I had to stop calling there.

Dowty rings.

I use these things on everything. They're designed for hydraulic fittings and will hold upwards of 10,000 psi, but seal well at low/no pressure too.

Just go to advanced auto or auto zone and get washers for the size bolt - used them for years - no leaks, no issues.

No they just have washers - these washers are slightly softer metal and can deform making a good seal upon tightening. When you change them out you will see a little ring around the washer. Thats why you don't reuse them. Seriously no issues on multiple cars for years.

I buy all my crush washers from Belmetric. I am not spending $10 for a transmission/diff washer from the dealership lol. it helps to buy in bulk (like 10+) so you don't get screwed over from shipping

If this is your first time doing diff and tranny, you can reuse the OE washers. just give it a littler tighter than the torque spec.

Next time (2nd time changing fluids) just get new washers. Find the part number, give it to a local dealer and have them hunt it. If they say they cant find it call their manager and tell them they suck.

SU003-03626 for the transmission drain and fill washer gasket is the same exact size as hondas transmission drain plug and it costs 2.27 instead of 11 bucks.
save some money. hondas part number is 90471-px4-000

I bought the over priced washers for the trans and differential. I also bought one dimple magnetic plug for trans or diff. Is it suggested to have one plug per. Drain plug or also one per fill plug?
