washing machine rattling sound on WOT

my car had been heavily used most of the time.
either mountain pass drives or circuit drives. pretty much like a track car.

just after one of the track day i have a weird rattling sound on WOT.

i've searched around and it's not the same like others having.

mine happen on all gears 3k rpm to 4k.

like a rock trapped in an empty washing machine. non rhythmic rattle.
i tot it was clutch issue. but why only 3k to 4k. doesn't feel any jerk at all. no CEL. no lack of power, power still strong.

initialy tot i killed the clutch. but then there's no slippage, and only 3k to 4k.
neutral doesn't give the noise either.

any idea ?

Your washing machine is out of balance.

Open the lid, redistribute the clothes and close the lid.

You could be right, it seems like that when it goes into its spin cycle over 4000rpm it gets quieter. The counter weights may have worked free.

Did you go off the circuit on the day you were at the track and the noise began? If so, could you have a stone or stones trapped in the aerodynamic underbody panels making a harmonic rattling between 3-4,000 rpms?

So WOT only, not at part throttle? Rocks in the body would be a best case, but I don't think that would be very loud.

what mods?

metallic rattle under high load, could possibly be detonation/knock

log engine parameters and see if your getting knock correction
have you changed fuels lately, maybe its lower quality

That's a good joke on the washing machine...
I didn't went off circuit.
Mods were bolt on like header intake ecu manifold spacer.
If it's detonation, why it's not anything more than 4000rpm just wondering.
As for gas, this tank is a mix. Coz when I head to the circuit I have half tank on other brand. Got no choice but to fill with other brand prior entering circuit.

Because my car is almost race spec with high spring rate. I tot bouncing around the car on normal roads and uneven roads could make the stone come out. But it's still there... uneven roads can't even replicate the sound.

Does detonation only happen at 3k or 4k ? I thought detonation generally happen at high rpm?

wots a tot?

alchemis 07-09-2017 09:13 PM

Yes it's not part throttle. Only wot

I only had knock in that range till I fixed the tune (nameless header) - so I'd say yeah, it doesn't have to be at the top of the range. Logging is the sure way to know.

RJasonKlein 07-09-2017 10:22 PM

Have you checked the header for cracks?

alchemis 07-09-2017 10:32 PM

I guess it's time to slap on the car to the dyno.

alchemis 07-11-2017 06:33 AM

diagnose result came out.... the mechanic says there's some mini explosion sound happening under the intake manifold. like a mini explosion sound around that area.

i'm guessing it's direct injection seal.
any ideas ??
