'17 new 86 oil pressure light on with low idle

Just got my new '17 a few weeks ago not even broken in yet. Yesterday low oil pressure light comes on when im sitting at idle.

Idle is kinda low at 600 rpms. If I blip the the throttle the light goes away.

Checked oil hot it is actually a little over the full mark.

Guessing I should try to drain about a half a quart out first and possibly reset the computer since the low idle might be caused by a new intake pipe installed.

Otherwise no issues engine sounds and runs great.

Just checking to see if anyone else has this issue or a fix before I have my car sitting for days at a dealership.

Thanks in advance
-Tom

I would get it to the dealer and keep a record just incase. Some of the older models had some injector issues and low idle rpm's and check engine was two signs.....I am not saying this is your problem but having a 2 week old one myself it is good to read on here and be pro active just incase.

Yeah would think bugs would be worked out on these by now but since it is slightly upgraded with new HP there could be new bugs.

Still going to try to get a little oil out since ive read in other car forums too much oil can cause low pressure as well.

And will try to reset the ecu so it learns the new intake .

If these don't work I will have to suck it up and waste my day off in a dealership.

Are you a complete moron? You bought the car 2 weeks ago, you get an oil light and you're doing ANYTHING EXCEPT tell the dealership to send a tow truck and haul off their problem? This is a joke right?

Though I totally agree with your sentiment. You could state your opinion without coming off so harshly. I know if it was mine I would call dealer and if they told me to drive it in I would get it in writing or they would have to send a wrecker.....Tom may be right and it is the oil level but I wouldn't not give Toyota any leeway if the engine grenades to use against me....Just MO

But Tom you are right that you will need a day off to deal with a dealer

Unnecessarily harsh right there, jeez.

These cars are hard to get a good oil reading on. I'd leave it as is and get it to the dealer.

The more you mess with it the more likely it is that they'll blame you.

I doubt that having the oil level slightly above the fill line is causing the issue. Mine has been above that line in the past and never had oil light come on at idle but my idle is around 700 rpm. Also, I have read the oil light does not come on unless the pressure is really really low. I'd just get it to the dealer this week since these engines have been known to self destruct from oil starvation issues.(but call them and see if they give you the ok to drive it there)

I don't think you're a moron but I'd not drive it and call the dealer to have them pick it up and get a free rental until it's fixed.
