17' manual transmission noise
Hey guys, small question, my 2017 BRZ makes a weird noise when I put it into gear sometimes (the clutch is not engaged) like I can feel it move under the car and hear the gears pretty loudly. Sometimes the transmission kicks under the car, any idea if this is normal?

It's a manual transmission ..... it sits at your feet ...... it's shielded from the cabin by tin foil ..... most likely, what you are hearing is ..... "normal".
If it bugs you, I suggest you go drive another one to compare how it sounds .....;) humfrz |
Just going into place is all. Our shifter is connected directly to the transmission and our transmission can be noisy. All the weird sounds i hear in this car i train my mind to think of as racecar sounds, helps ease the paranoia that something may be broken. If something ever does break, gives you physical symptoms, or serious audible symptoms, you still have warranty.

Totalled.

Every manual transmission is different. I've found ours to be pretty rough and noisy. I normally don't have to slam gears when I'm hot rodding. But this car seems to require it or you'll miss a gear.

If you accelerate at low rpm it will make a sort of clanking noise this is normal. As for the kicking that's driver error and take setting used to.

What's an 17 foot manual transmission? Maybe that's part of the problem.

This car's transmission is touchy and you have to be very precise when shifting otherwise it will jerk.

There's enough spinning mass on the input side that for some time after you disengage the clutch it spins until the synchro grabs it. |

But yeah, practice till it's smooth, OP. On my good days and drives it feels just like an auto with no jerk. |
Practice makes perfect.

Still not as extreme as Caitlyn's.
