BC Br Type Coilovers.
This is my first car with coil overs. I installed these myself and the first time doing something this large. I found that my ride is really rough and any large bump or manhole I drive over makes the car feel like it's going to explode.
I've played with the dampening, on the softest settings it's okay but still pretty rough. I believe that my spring load is incorrect as I didn't use the 2-3mm from factory. The ride is overall really rough and bouncy. I believe I can fix the bounce with just adjusting the dampening but then I feel like the car will explode. Any ideas? Complete noob. |
Sounds like the preload is not set correctly. what are your spring rates?
|
Bouncy may be not enough damping for the spring rates.
Crappy ride is something I hear a lot about with BC... but in this case I'm guessing it is spring rate and lack of adequate travel most likely to be the culprit. Note, I put two season on 10/12k springs, so am no stranger to higher rates. And while potholes and similar were always pretty rough if deeper than an inch, most other times the ride was remarkably smooth, all things considered. |

I managed to fix it. So the problem was I didn't set the preload correctly and basically the car had 0 travel. So I fixed it, just a stupid mistake from me. First car still learning! Glad I didn't break anything. |
