Aftermarket Intakes Still Compatible with 2017?

My 2017 BRZ is scheduled to arrive next month, and I'm looking at possible intake options. My questions are:

1) Since I know certain components were redesigned or have different dimensions on the 2017, will this make existing aftermarket options not compatible out-of-the-box? Looking specifically at the GrimmSpeed intake, but open to others (that don't require removing the bumper to install).

2) Along the same lines, does the slightly increased 2017 HP from refreshed factory intake mean I'm going to be getting even less benefit from an aftermarket intake? Is it even worth doing? Has anyone done dyno comparisons for the 2017?

Thanks. :)

The only thing different on the intake is the airbox and drop-in filter element. Everything else is same and aftermarket parts (either intake tube, intake assembly, or intake system) will fit fine.

That thread doesn't answer the question because OP is asking about various intake components and compatibility with a MY2017 car, assuming they are asking about a manual transmission car.

The thread you referenced is a general question about best intakes available "in 2017"

Hello and welcome to the forum,

I instal a injen intake and the OFT in 2017 GT, no problem at all. About spending that amount for that gain in hp I don't know, I just did it because I have that (aftermarket parts sitting around for couple of years a buy another toy).

They should all fit fine.

I had a Grimmspeed (not 2017 specific) in my 2017 BRZ for a while.

However, I went back to stock airbox and the Perrin inlet tube with a drop-in Blitz filter. My tuner recommends staying with the stock airbox, not much to gain with the various aftermarket ones (although they do give that whooshing/sucking sound when you blip throttle).

I have to quote myself and correct what I originally wrote.

Blitz released a new intake kit for the kouki 86 models. The difference is the silicon coupler that connects the factory airbox to the intake tube, the kouki model uses a coupler that is approx. 3/4" longer.

It may not make a difference and you might be able to get your zenki intake tube to bolt up without issues, but it's off by just enough to where aftermarket intakes need a slightly longer coupler.

FYI.

This is available. I'm just curious if it flows better than the already ~30% higher flowing 2017 OEM filter.
