Remove stock front plate bracket?
Ive searched but all the posts I can track down are about aftermarket installs, not removing the bracket.
I got a wrench on the bolt but it just spins in place. Is there something holding it on? Can I just pull the bolt out? Called the service department and they have no idea what might be holding it, or how to access it. |
It's a locally installed option depending on where you live.
What's happened for yours won't be common for everyone. I had to replace my front fascia due to running over a truck retread on the freeway at night. When I took off the plate mount, they had cut 3/4" holes with a hole saw, then used clipnuts slid onto the side of the hole. They came off easy, but what a gobbing great eyesore when exposed. I told the bodyshop "DO NOT DRILL HOLES IN THIS!" and didn't bring the plate mount with the car. You'll have to do a bit of exploring, possibly with a small mirror and strong flashlight for your application. |
Mine has rubber grommets on the back of the screws holding the bracket on. Based on your comments, it sounds like you do too. You need to take off the cover under your engine (the one closest to the front of the car) and hold the grommet in place while you unscrew it.

Is the cover under the engine held on by those 5 bolts I can see when I look under there, or is there more holding it
