Angle sensor not functioning

Okay so I recently installed an after market steering wheel. I did break the spiral cable but I also replaced it with a new. Well after I got everything back together and did the zero point calibrations I still have a steering angle sensor code. I have disconnected it and measured voltage at the connector I am getting voltage there. Next I measured resistance on the ground wire for that circuit but I'm getting 15 ohms and the circuit should have less then 1 ohm at all times. Please help really stumped on this issue.

Well, HELLO, Schace and WELCOME to our forum ........

I'm afraid I can't help you but, I'm sure someone will come along soon.

Meanwhile, there is another thread going where the fellow has some sort of steering wheel problem ...... you might want to check it out.

I hope you get it sorted out.....:)

(have we come a long way ...., since we would just take the steering wheel off, set the wheels "straight" and put the steering wheel back on the spline (straight) ..... then tighten down the nut and replace the cap. Yep, a 1/2 beer job)

You're measuring 15 ohms between between pin-1 and a good conductive point on the chassis? Something fishy going on there.

Yes pin 1 black wire with yellow tracer. But what doesn't make sense is I've never touched that circuit at all so idk what the heck is going on but that steering angle sensor code always comes back immediately no matter what I've tried so far. So stumped lol

What code is it?

Are you sure you put the angle sensor on in the correct position?

Did you use Techstream to calibrate?

Schace 03-30-2017 12:45 PM

Yeah Im sure. Even if I didn't though that still doesn't explain the 15 ohms of resistance I'm getting on the ground wire for that circuit

Yes I used a tech stream

According to the manual you're looking in exactly the right spot. In your shoes, before anything else I'd trace that ground wire to figure out exactly what's going on there.

I'd be scratching my head too but it has to be ruled out. In case you're working with partial info, click on that readme link in my sig.

Cool. I think I'm gonna cut that c
Ground wire, solder a new wire to and out it at a different ground point and see if that fixes the ground problem. I think it should

Nooooo... Trace it first. Find the other end if you can. Seems like something might be pinched. Confirm before doing anything else.

Schace 03-30-2017 02:44 PM

Well it's spliced behind the head unit and Trac buttons that are on the center console splice into it and the ground is also behind the head unit
