Damaged Exhaust Manifold Stud
So last fall I installed the TOMEI UEL headers and all has been great with them. Tonight, however I was changing my oil and investigating what looks like a minor oil leak. I also noticed one of my header nuts was loose (attaching to the block) and so I decided to tighten it down. Well it spun and spun and finally I realized the stud thread is damaged and stripped! I think it happened as I pulled the stock headers off originally and they scraped against the threads.
Curious if anyone knows how difficult it is to remove a stud from a block or if they recommend going to a shop. |
Maybe try a die on it first? Though not surr how messed up it is so maybe not an option

Bumping this because I'm in the same boat. Header install boogered the threads and now they don't thread on correctly. Will try tap and die but if that fails, Is there a specific process for this? Or is it pretty straight forward

Just wanted to update this real quick. I ordered a set of oem studs and nuts from eBay for $21.
