Cam Carrier Oil Leak (hole in the cam carrier)
1 Attachment(s)
I had an oil leak that occurred approximately 40k miles, I had no issues prior to that. This issue is on the driver side cam carrier (where the intake manifold sits on top). I originally thought it was a bad cam carrier seal, but it turns out to be there is a hole in my cam carrier. It is currently at the dealership, and luckily covered under 5yr/60k power train warranty. I thought I would share this with everyone since this is a very unique case that I could not find a similar situation anywhere. The dealership originally blamed the leak to a "loose oil filter" which didn't even make sense since the location of the oil leak was spilling near the driver side firewall and dripping down from the same side. They said the only reason they are going to warranty it is because they did not properly diagnose the issue the first time. That means I am lucky or they would have had an excuse to void the warranty due to the related items on the bottom. A picture is attached that I requested from the dealership.
