Need info...want to tap power that feeds OEM Bluetooth mic
So...I want to install a couple small led's in the panel that houses the factory Bluetooth mic in the headliner. I saw someone do it, and it looked good....I also drive older BMWs and mine always had small orange ambient led's in the headliner that simply kept the center console dimly lit and made it nice if you had to fumble around at night looking for something you dropped. So.....I want to tap the wires going to the mic. They guy that did it said he just hooked up 'positive and negative'....But I have read that the red and white wires are actually left and right, because it's a stereo mic. (There is also a black wire I have seen in photos). So.......what I want to know is....if I want to tap the mics power, do I tap red and white or red and black? I know the set up works, I saw photos of the finished product lit up. So can anyone help?

Not sure what circuit you are referring to but usually in this situation you can easily check with a multimeter if red or black is the +12V. For the GND. you can you any bolt on your car as ground (as long as there's no paint)

You tap using the red line, and use the black to GROUND to something (negative terminal or other metal piece. The white wire is optional and typically used for splicing into other units (not necessary).
I suggest getting a Fuse Tap (aka - add a circuit) and just tap the leds to your fuse box. There are plenty of directions on how to use a fuse tap on youtube but basically you want to tap into a fuse that powers something lower than 10 amps (because your accessory leds typically dont need more than 3). I tapped into either my A/C or audio fuses with a fuse tap and it works flawlessly! Heres what a fuse tap looks like: https://ledcdnmax-bmvepxttz.netdna-s...xc8Or0M7h.jpeg Let me know if you have any other questions |
