Is the stock OEM Panasonic battery 55D23L rechargeable?
 

My battery is completely discharged from not driving my car often.

I'm looking at the stock FRS OEM battery and it says on the label, "Do not charge or use booster cables or adjust post connections without proper instruction and training".

I thought wet/flooded batteries can be recharged. I looked everywhere and can not find an answer to this. Is there anyone out there whose stock OEM battery died on them and if so, what did you do? Have you tried recharging the battery and if so, what happened?

Yes of course you can charge them. Mine was dead when I bought the car on the lot. The dealer charged it awhile and it was good for three years.

Then I didn't drive the car for a few weeks and the battery got pretty low, so I put it onto a trickle charger/battery maintainer. It brought it back up and it is great now.

Was yours the stock OEM Panasonic that came with the car though? Why would Panasonic put a label stating it shouldn't be charged? I thought it might be dangerous to charge it.

First off, you might consider investing in a battery tender, if you go for long periods of time without driving the car. Make sure the electrolyte level is covering the plates. Add DISTILLED or DEIONIZED water if necessary.

Secondly, I'd suggest that you have your car's battery "load tested" at an auto shop ...... just to make sure it is up to speed (will hold a charge).

I don't know why, but I glossed over that on accident. I'm running the "Battery Tender" as we speak.

I charge mines every month. My daily trips are too short, doesn't charge the battery, so it's always weak.

I replaced my OEM battery with a AGM battery when the car was new. After about a year of sitting in the garage, I attempted to use the OEM battery for something else. It was COMPLETELY dead. Zero volts. I hooked it to a charger and it just plain would not take a charge.
Rather than throw it away, after all this was a brand new battery, this is what I did:
I connected it in parallel to a bank of batteries I used for a UPS. The UPS is connected to a trickle charger. After about a month, I checked the battery in question and it was fully charged. It had come back from the dead. Two years later and it's still good (in my VW).

I got myself a smart charger. If i am going out of town for a week. I would pull my OE battery out and charge it. The car is 3 and half year old and it is still fine.

Just curious, do you pull the battery because you can't park closely enough to an outlet? If so, I sincerely applaud your dedication.
