ST Suspensions Sporttech Springs
Hey guys, I've searched ft86 forums and google, but 'ST' just won't show up in the search results, it's too short. With that said, does anyone have any experience with these lowering springs? They're made by ST, so I'm sure they're really good for the money. I'm searching for a spring that will work well with the stock struts and not blow them out prematurely, similar to how the RCE Yellow Springs are built for oem struts but the ST's are less expensive.

I have no first hand knowledge just trying to help you out.
They have German TÜV which means they are street legal in Germany. Documentation is required for that: http://docs.kwsuspension.de/ga56045-1201-12.pdf From the documentation, it says they have a progressive spring rate and uses the stock bump stops. Given that they are street legal and the authorities here are pretty rigorous they probably won't blow your shocks. If they work well is another matter... |

If you're not really pushing the car at all, and don't care what the handling balance (from spring rates) is like, then these should be fine. I'd personally go with the RCE Yellows or Swift Sport (I have swift sport FRS rates).

Hotchkis springs are awesome for the money too and work well with the stock shocks

Another vote for RCE yellows. I have no first hand knowledge of the ST springs but the Yellows are worth it.

Doesn't look like they publish the spring rates. If the rates are good I'd be all over them for $130 for a new set. While ST is a reputable brand, I'd be a bit wary of suspension manufactures that don't disclose the specifics like spring rates. I suppose you can ask the customer service, but how can you be sure short of testing it yourself?

Just called KW and they said the springs are progressive and don't have a rate and blatantly said these springs would be bad for OEM struts. Looks like I'm going with RCE's baby!

Was going to suggest maybe looking at Eibach Pro kit. The TRD springs are literally just rebadged versions of the pro kits so they shouldn't cause any issues with premature wear on stock struts.
