Muffler Bypass Valve

Has anybody attempted a custom bypass valve like this? I think it could be a good set-up for those of us who want a little bit of a Jekyl and Hyde experience.

A unit like this might be perfect for it

I have a buddy who did this on his highly modified legacy GT. It's pretty wicked just dumping out to a straight pipe.

I know someone who's done it:

To me, that doesn't look/sound like it would be worth the money, time and trouble.....:iono:

Now, back-in-the-day, when we would place the cut-out at the first turn in the exhaust pipe ........ THAT made a wicked sound ...... :D

(but, they usually leaked .....:()

I like the way the system tucks up under there, but I'm not so sure about the exhaust note....louder isn't always better. I guess the only way to really tell if you like it to try it with whatever exhaust you have because your header/frontpipe/midpipe is definitely going to effect your final outcome

Hi,
I'm actually doing something pretty similar.

But way valve is routed here makes it look simpler then also cutting muffler.
Still, loving idea itself, quiet when cruising or starting up in quiet neighbourhoods, and loud when you want it to be with simple press of a button.

That is a pretty bold approach! I like the idea, why did you choose such a invasive set-up instead of a more external one?

Because the valve I ordered is so big there was no other choice!
The setup Iceman shared with us is pretty neat.
But the guy in the video is using another kind of valve, a smaller one (the size of a turbo blow off valve).
The advantage of my setup is that I can easily replace the valve if it fails.

Since I am sometimes "trackdaying", the valve will be exposed to very high temperatures and, honestly, I doubt it will resist in such conditions, even if it looks pretty well-built.
