Attempting to install iJDMToy 4th Brake light
I ordered the iJDM Toy 4th brake light the other night. I noticed there is not much space between the bumper and the muffler to take the reverse light casing out.
Is it possible to take the casing out without removing the muffler? I have watched many install videos and the car is usually on a lift with the muffler out. Any advice would be much appreciated. Cheers! |
In install videos for that lower brake light with the stock exhaust, they just try to wiggle it out despite being tight. They may lightly tug on the underside of the bumper to help take it out. This is even more of a pain witht the oem diffuser. It will come out eventually.

You can maybe follow this installation idk if it'll help much. He bought his from iJDMToy too. |
Doesnt looks like "plug n play"

ijdmtoy is rubbish..stay away from their cheap products and shoddy customer service

I installed mine without removing the reverse light. just jacked up the rear end and worked on my back. I do have a Borla exhaust though. I may have more room to work than normal.

With kids there isn't too much time so it's easier just to buy it all in one bag. |
I've been looking at this iJDMTOY 4th Brake Light too for awhile now... Should've ordered it sooner cause now I have no time to install it :(

There are two clips on the bottom of the plastic piece that surrounds 4th brake light.
Once you take those clips out you have more room to work on. The install for the iJDMToy light wasn't simple plug in and play and requires some wiretapping if you want to enable the 4th brake light and the 'V' running light. The work I put in to get it working wasn't too bad and it's worth the price. |
what's the kit that is similar to this but when you break it pulses like three times?

Well gee, I wish I could do that. Wiring and so forth is not my forte...
I thought there was a PLUG AND PLAY kit that did that out there...if anyone knows the name and can link me, I'd appreciate it! Been looking for awhile for a "3rd/4th" brake light kit...besides Valenti n etc. |

Valentis pulse when you hit the brakes, but the V doesnt stay on as a running light at night without modification and no matter what you have to tap at least the brake wire on your tail lights. EDIT: if you're afraid of screwing up the stock wiring, check my DIY to make your own harness: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114591 If you make that harness and splice the wires from the 4th brake light to it, it becomes "plug and play" when you actually install it on the car. IMO the hardest part is just getting the light in place and fishing the wiring around the rear bumper. I was able to do my 4th brake light without a lift or removing the exhaust, but I have the dual canister style exhaust. Not the stock type with a big muffler in the middle. With that said, if you can fit your hand between the gap with a wrench, you can do this without removing the muffler. |
