Long term E85 use and Lubes
I've been running e85(oft) for about 15k miles and wonder if I should be using any FUEL additives. I've read on other forums that some people use two stroke tc-w3(ashless, burns clean?) and lucas upper cylinder lubricant.
Would those lubes burn clean? Would it help keep things lubed? Is it snake oil? Would they do more harm than good? Is e85 that much more "dry" than e15 gasoline? -Off topic- Air oil separator/oil catch can takes out the oil that would otherwise be put into the intake, which is bad? Since engine oil isn't designed to burn(?) or does not burn clean? therefore creating deposits and gunking up the engine? |
I have been running e98 for 2000 Hard track miles and only saw contamination when i had a return style setup with my catch cans. that being said i would keep that in mind with return style systems. As far as lubricants go we have not seen any issues on the valves and everything is running proper.

Quote:
1) Make sure the oil is ILSAC GF-5 2) Change the oil a bit more frequently, like every 4-5k |
