Does anyone track their car with a 1 piece DSS driveshaft?
I'm trying to figure out what to do with the DSS alu 1 piece unit I just purchased.
See the thread below: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109380 Coles notes: -Bought new DSS shaft and installed a couple of days prior to my last lapping day. -Put 65 laps on the car. -The week after the lapping event, noticed gearoil smell intermittently and noise from driveline. -Put car in air, found outputshaft bearing to have play and gearoil to be leaking from outputshaft seal. -I'm assuming the DSS shaft caused this to happen from increased NVH, but I'd like some more confirmation before I effectively eat a $600 purchase. |
It would have to be out of balance to damage the bearings, which is possible, but I'd think you would've felt that.

I have tracked our car for 2 years with a 1 piece DSS Aluminum driveshaft without issue

I've had mine on with the subframe bushings and it's definitely more noise near redline in 4th and 5th gears. I haven't had anything else seem strange though. I should go under the car and have a look this weekend.
