Best fuse to tap in?
 

I want to hardwire a radar detector, but i need to find a fuse that would be powered only when ignition is on and would be safe to do so. Any tips ? :thanks:

accessory fuse. you have two cigarette adapter ports so find one that you don't use (like the one in the glovebox) and figure out which fuse it is (there are 2) and tap into that. picking any accessory fuse is probably fine since the radar detector won't draw too many amps but it doesn't hurt to be safe just in case you want to charge an ipad on the same port or something that uses a lot of power.

or you can just plug into the cigarette port into the glovebox and hide the wiring. that's what I did for my dashcam and it's easily reversible. tapping a fuse isn't that reversible unless you do an add-a-fuse. some people also tap right behind their auto dimming mirror too.
