Exhaust question, Rattle or Rasp
So right now I'm running a magna flow catback without a resonator in the mid pipe area. Sounded great before, then today I installed a Berk HFC. After install and making sure I installed all the gaskets and everything was all tight, upon driving it around while it was cold, there was rattling from 4k-7k range. Once it warmed up throughout the day there was a different rattling sound from 4k-4.5k. Now will this be fixed by adding a resonator in the mid pipe area, or is there another reason why it's rattling.

Resonator won't fix a rattle.

I reckon some part of your exhaust is lose or banging up against something.

Going to try to put a resonator back on and see if it helps. |

Sometimes when an engine "torques over" a part of the upper exhaust can hit and vibrate on a part of the frame/undercarriage ...... :iono: I hope you get it sorted out ...... :) humfrz |

I'll bet you that the Berk pipe has a crack in it. A hairline crack can be a bitch to find and will make a rattle that will change with the temp of the pipe. Check around the flanges and all the welds. Bend and flex them. It could also be in the hanger area.
I had a catback exhaust with hairline cracks at some brackets in the axleback section and once the cracks were welded the rattle went away. |
