Remove dried wax from the fender trim/vent?
I realized I have some dried wax stuck on the fender trim/vent from the last wax I did. What is the best way to remove this? I tried water and a wash mitt; no cigar.

Dish soap/water mix will remove wax. Its safe for paint too, so no worries there.

If it's stuck in the cracks and details of the vent, a detailing brush should be able to get that right out.

Use some isopropyl alcohol with Q-tips, it will remove/dissolve the wax. Otherwise tooth pick with a steady hand will work as well.

Definitely follow with a vinyl and plastic dressing or it will dry out.
Really wax is just as bad as any of these soaps or alcohol at drying out the plastics. To much of this and they'll crumble to pieces. |
Use foam (pads) to get out stuck on wax.

Try using an pink pencil eraser. It works for me.

Usually, a wax vendor also has a "finish spray" or a between waxings spray. This also is a pretty good way to remove wax.
If your vendor doesn't have that, I'd use a microfiber towel to remove the wax as best you can and use another vendors's finish product. Meguiar's Final Inspection would work fine in this case. Then I'd put 303 on your flairs to seal them and protect them from the sun. I think you'll find that a slightly damp microfiber cloth is great at cleaning in gereral, doesn't matter if that's extra or old wax. |

if you use a paste wax and have a hard time buffing it off a detail spray will help with that also

Peanut Butter or Vegetable Oil and a very soft tooth brush. Seriously.

Any dish soap can help. The Griot’s Garage Dried-On Wax Remover is intended for that kind of problem and this product is still affordable.

You can use dish soap but if will remove all existing wax on your car. So be sure to add some sort of protection after washing it with dish soap. Use masking tape for the mouldings and edges when waxing. Takes a little more time but rewarding afterwards.
