Tyre Stretch, make ride higher? Bulgy tyre
 

Hey guys, so I'm running the Airlift Performance kit and so is one of my friends, although when aired out his front touches the ground where as I still have a bit of clearance.. I've been trying to work out what causes this. Both struts are adjusted to the same height, and running the same camber from the top camber plate.

His specs are 18x9.5 with 215/35
My specs are 18x10 with 225/35

So similar stretch for Both wheels. Just from looking at both cars, the way my tyres sit on the wheels.. They seem to be bulgy? Like they're fatter, not sure if I'm just imagining it as I'm not an expert in tyre stretch.. But is there anyway the tyre can be bulged when stretching on resulting in the car sitting higher?

Your tire is wider and has the same ratio as his, so it will be a little bit taller

Thanks man, just a bit confused how that works, should being wider (225 instead of 215) not affect height at all? Jus trying to visualise how that works.

Normally, tires are sized as 245/40/17. Where, 245 is the width, 40 is the aspect ratio, or sidewall height and is a percentage of the width of the tire. And the 17 is your wheel diameter.

No, the 35 in the number refers to 35% of the width with on the 215 would be 75 mm and on the 225 would be nearly 79 mm. So the 225 wheel is 4 mm taller then the 215 hence why it looks "bulgy" also the 225 itself is wider. Also you never stated if they were the same brand. Brands can vary on size. Check tire rack under the specs sheets. Your tire maybe 2or 3 mm taller or wider due to the manufacturer.
