How do you get rusted hubs/bearings off?
Trying to install ARP studs and I didn't even get one corner in yet lol.
I had to use the bolt trick to get the rotors off. And now the bearing is rusted in place. I can't hammer on it because I don't want to break it. I seen people recommend pullers but I also seen those separate the bearing and leave the inner race in place. This is on the rear BTW, I imagine ill run into same on front. And my car doesn't even get driven in salt Halp. |
You think a slide hammer would work?

Get a puller, soak the joints with liberal amounts of penetrating fluid, take it slow, cross your fingers and hope the bearings stay put. Most of the time they do since they are not rusted but sometimes not so lucky. The only trick I can say is to not rush it. |

if you hammer or slide hammer, the bearing is done as it imprints the race (brinnelling). puller like @Tcoat showed is typically available to borrow/rent from auto specialty shops like Partsource up here or Pep Boys stateside.
and again as Tcoat said, lots of penetrant (SeaFoam works well) and if you can, polish off any of the rust you can... good luck! |

How do you use that hub puller? I'm looking at it and it just looks like it would push the axle through and do nothing to take the bearing off?
