Any thoughts about royal purple max gear for transmission?

Anybody else on here running royal purple max gear fluid in their fr-s? Or does anybody have any thoughts about it? I am only asking because i recently put it in my transmission after I swapped out the clutch and was just wondering if its ok for the trans. Royal purple stated that MaxGear can be ran as gl4 or gl5, which I find kind of odd. I even called RP to see if it will be fine for my trans and they told me it will.

I'm using RP in my transmission and have had no issues. I've driven a couple thousand miles since the swap and have gone through twisties, 2 autocross events, and a track day. Make sure you're using the 75w90.

Thanks! Are you using the Max gear line too?

Yeah, I originally was going to use the Motul that most recommend here on the forum, but was time constrained in sourcing my oil (no prime shipping on amazon for it). Autozone had the RP and I have no complaints so far.

Same here. I had the clutch in and ready to go, but I was not going to wait days do try out my new clutch. Well, good to know its holding well for your car especially on how you use it, makes me relieved.

My experiences with RP have been bad generally.

My friends 2000 RS has an 04 STi trans and developed a 5th gear grind. We drained the fluid and replaced with RP.

Gear grind was worse.

Swapped with cheap advanced auto castrol, gear grind was gone completely and felt better.

The RP felt very thin in hand.

Look for Motul locally if you can is my opinion, though some people have definitely has good results with RP.

Any gear grinding issues? In higher rpms?
