Clutch issue after sitting over night
 

Been dealing with this for about a month now. When I start my car in the morning I let it warm up no matter if its cold or warm outside. When I leave for work sometimes my clutch feels like it is slipping. I let the clutch out and give it gas and it feels like is about to stall. Shakes and bucks. This happens in 1st gear only. If I start in 2nd gear no issues. After I drive about a 2-3 miles it clears up and drives normal for the rest of the day. I am the second owner and when I bought the car it had 7k miles, has 24k miles now. I have been driving manuals for about 10 years and I have never experienced this on a car with low miles. Checked through the forums and google and cant find anything that says this is an issue for our cars. I could take it to the dealership but odds are that the car wont reproduce the issue so I will be without a car until they figure it out. Any help would be great.

The first thing I would try is the old "see if the clutch disk is wore out" test.

Warm up the engine, set the emergency brake, put it in 2nd gear, rev to about 3,000 rpms, let the clutch our slowly. If that kills the engine, there is a good chance the clutch disk still has some life left in it.

It could be the notorious throw out bearing acting up.

It could be the pressure plate is warped (or otherwise messed up) (unlikely).

Anyway, that is not "normal" for a clutch to do that (with an experienced driver).

If it's still under warranty, I'd suggest you park it overnight at the dealership then ask a tech to fire it up in the morning, to see if it can be duplicated.

seems like two conflicting things
a warn / slipping clutch will let the engine rev and slowly start the car moving and will seem smooth.
a grabbing and bucking engagement often comes from a rapid engagement at too low an rpm. starting in 2nd will require more slipping of the clutch and will seem to start smoothly.
side note: clutches and brakes often work better with a little heat; also a competition clutch is more difficult to engage smoothly it likes to be in or out.
perhaps a little more info would help problem solve.

Yes your right it's more of a grabbing issue. Felt it again pulling out of the parking space at work. I can feel it through the clutch pedal trying to grab. Even tried more rpms and letting off the clutch slower after reading your reply and it gave me the same result.

It really sounds like the clutch is going out.

Have you been doing hard starts or burn out s or riding the clutch on hills
Fly wheel or pressure Plat e with hot spots will act like that and get better with heat for a short time

Have not done any of those. I do use the clutch to hold the car on small inclines. It goes away completely after driving a few miles.

You can try using the hand brake on hills
If nothing is warped it might clear up with time
Once a hot spot has developed it will be the first place to heat up when the clutch is ridden on a hill
