Autocross brake pads

I'm currently using Hawk Performance plus brake pads, to those who are just on aftermarket brake pads, do you switch to oem pads after autocross day and switch back prior to another one, or you just let the autox pads sit? thank you

I'm running stock pads, since they engage the ABS and handle the heat from 1 minute runs (just don't hold the brake down when staging after a hot run). For track days, I swap to XP8s, inspect the condition of the rotors and SS lines, and check/bleed the RBF600 fluid.

At autocross, your braking zones will be infrequent and tight. A pad with better initial bite can shave time (like the Ferodo DS2500, Carbotech AX6, ProjectMu HC800, Winmax W2)... but my skill level is chasing the final second, not the last tenth.

Lets add G-Loc R6 to that list @Shankenstein

Is that pad better than OEM yet quiet on street?

The G-Loc R6 should be pretty comparable to a Carbotech AX6.

This. Minimal to no noise with proper bedding. I recommend using a shim and brake grease with these pads for street/autox use.

Hows the inital bite of the R6 both hot and cold? That is one of the things I like best about the HC+800? And how is the dusting on them in relation as well?

Slightly more initial bite cold, consistent bite through the range, slightly less dust. Dust is very easy to clean off, due to being chemically neutral.

my OP question was, do you exclusively use autocross pads for autocross or leave them up to the next autocross day? thank you

I leave them despite being unable to permanently quiet them. I run AX6 at the moment.

I've got milder pads on right now that seem to do the job well enough (ns400) going to step up to one of the compounds here and suggested in other threads out of desire for more braking torque. Unless your autocross courses are bigger than national style with multiple hard third gear to second gear braking zones you shouldn't need a pad that's unstreetable.

OEM is probably a good fit if your courses are all second gear and <60s on stock power and street tires.

Edit: also implying OEM like and street pads, ns400, carbotech 1521, w2/3, stop tech, TRD, etc
