Is this puncture repairable?

Noticed I had a screw in my rear tire earlier, but I haven't had one this close to the edge of the tire. I was wondering if anyone else has had a puncture in a similar location before, and if it was able to be patched or not? I have an appointment to get it looked at in a few hours but just wanted to know what to expect beforehand

Nope. Way too close to the sidewall. If you find somebody that says they can fix it don't trust them ever again. That would be a blowout waiting to happen even if repaired.

That's what I figured after doing some reading. Awesome :(.

Am I ok to drive 3 miles to work and back for the next 2 days? No one near me carries PSS in my size, but I'll be able to get one on Monday. Luckily Tire Rack will be able to reimburse me for the replacement

Ya that should be fine. Just don't go too fast or start drifting around corners. The hole won't cause you much issue unless you hit extreme temperatures. Too hot or cold and just a bit of sidewall loading will split that thing in half starting at the patch.

I concur, if only because I would prefer to bite the bullet and replace the tire rather than worry about it until I landed in a ditch. I am guessing, but the reasonable explanation seems to be that your repair would tend to flex with the sidewall, leading to an inevitable failure. A repair in middle of the tread would flex much less, and stay solid and safe.

Your safety and peace of mind must be worth $100 or so, right?

As said a mushroom plug RTVed from the inside will let you drive for a short while safely, it will not fail catastrophically but will lose air over time. Turns stops and hard starts are the enemy.

totally agree with @pfaffendorn
safety over all. could lead to other wrecks if you happen to forget about that spot.. change tire worth saving your life or other's

The Tire Rack warranty service is going to cover the replacement, but it's not going to be here for another week. My commute to work is literally 6 minutes so I'll just drive slow and only to work and back until then. Apparently the PSS is a hard tire to get right now :/

I had a nail on the sidewall of a tire and I dove on that tire for months just get the tire plugged

What is more illuminati about is they are phasing out before new tire is launched so people buy them!!!

Replacement is the Pilot Sport 4, for those who didn't know

I was a little worried there for a moment. Is there any sites that tell us the difference between the two (specs)?

Well, that's a dipshit way of doing it. If the PSS is out of stock and the PS4 isn't out yet, those of us who need tires now will end up buying another brand instead.
