GRD turbo system
Hi guys,
Im currently designing a turbo system for the 86 running a GTX3071R with a .63 Tial sports stainless v-band housing. I am currently fiddling around with position of the turbo at the moment and just have a quick question to anyone out there thats removed headers. Does anyone know the inside diameter of the exhaust ports? As my 86 is on order and my current donor car is being daily driven i cant remove the stock headers to measure it up. Will be releasing a few teaser pics in the next few days depending on how long i can borrow my donor car for. Thanks Kal |

I already have, Im thinking of just going with 1.5" sch10.

How far away are you mounting the turbo? What are your end goals, max power, or maximum useable range?

At the moment I am waiting for some cnc flanges, turbo will hopefully be mounted by next week. At this stage it will be running 7psi (standard 7psi spring in the turbo smart 40mm waste gate). Eventually once cp finishes their low comp pistons and haltech finishes their PNP ecu I hope to be running around 350-450hp.
It's actually the first horizontally opposed engine I've ever stuck a turbo on so it's a bi of a learning curve for me. Kal |

That is definitely an option but I'm going to see what haltech comes out with first. They have been good to me since I bought my first e11 off them and will continue to use them as much as I can.

It sounds like you are after useable power?
So I would utilize small to medium size equal length primaries (4 into 1 with possibly one step to increase velocity to the snail) with a proper merge collector, and then mount the turbo 4 to 6 inches after the collector on the flange, looks like you will be running an oil pump also. |
