Jolt in AT shifting to second Gear at 7000rpm

Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

In 2014 firs AT in manual mode. In first gear around 7000rpm about to shift to 2nd gear, I feel a huge jolt almost as if car is stalling. Did I not shift in time or is something else going on?

Sorry if this is a noob question

You probably hit the rev limiter before it made the shift. On the OEM tune the rev limiter is a hard limit. It'll cause the motor to bog if you hit it.

Given that it's a 2014 and he could possibly be on original fluid, an ATF flush would probably be near.

Do you get the feeling of the car pulling you back? If you do, I have that on my 2013 if I drive it hard in M Mode. I could also chirp in 2nd doing that (I feel like my transmission has an issue but I had it inspected recently and no issues).

I do feel the car pulling back. It happened only twice so far. If you have any ideas let me know

Yup, sounds like bouncing off the rev limiter to me.

This. Working as intended.

before concluding did jx see the rev warning red light come, exactly where the revs were if you were playing close attention to the tach, and for an AT car shouldn't you get all the way up to 7600rpm before cutoff ?

jxl00 04-08-2016 05:42 PM

i thought the rev was at 7000. did not see an indicator light go on. I could be wrong though. I hope it's not an issue. If it happens again, i'll be sure to update. I just wanted to see if this was an issue many people had and it seems like it is not.

if needed, for your peace of mind, you can just try to reproduce it. Rev it until it hits the limiter and see if it feels the same to you. No harm done
