Del Sol starting problem

Ok guys, here's the symptoms. Turn key to accessory: only radio works, no dash lights or climate control. Turn key to"start": engine turns over like normal, full power to all systems. Release key from "start", goes back to "run": car looses power, immediately shuts down.

While running it can randomly die and replicate above symptoms.
It doesn't do it every time it starts.
While running it runs fine: no sputter, or loss of torque/hp.

I've had "idle air control" suggested. And the main relay. I think it has something to do with the ignition switch since the accessory power is fucked up.

Anyone have any ideas?

Before I even finished reading my mind headed toward ignition switch. Had the issue on my Talon. Almost the exact same symptoms. You don't have a bunch of heavy stuff on the key ring do you? I think that was what wrecked mine.

My lancer had a problem starting because a screw holding the ignition switch got loose. Just saying

I do have numerous keys. I thought ignition switch too. Do you suppose I need the whole switch or just the tumbler?

Not a direct solution to your problem, but highly suggest some detachable key rings for preventing the same issue in the future:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/MoMA-Magnetic-Key-Holder/dp/B013TWHUV2/ref=sr_1_3?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1458688358&sr=1-3&keywords=magnetic+key+ring"]Amazon.com - Magnetic Key Holder -[/ame]

Thanks, I didn't know they came in magnetic versions. I have one with a button but I've never detached it when driving
