I think turbo killed my factory motormounts

I'm having shuttering/shaking when I disengage the clutch from a stop. The car shifts like a dream, my clutch is act xtss never grinds my gears even at hard long shifts to redline.

More or less I can feel the car shake or shutter when I slowly eas off the gas in first or reverse.

Did my newly enjoyed turbo setup decide to eat my factory motor mounts?

I'm not sure if it's eating your factory motor mount, but the shake you feel is the idle point your tune has set for your car, my car idle pretty calm, but sometime it does shakes when it is below 800rpm, and it goes back up.

If your tune keeps doing it you might want to speak with your tuner.

How much experience do you have with upgraded/race clutches? It sounds like normal engagement from an aggressive, non-stock clutch like your ACT. As it beds in and mates up surfaces better after break-in, it will get a bit grabby. The solution is to use slightly higher revs when moving away from a dead stop. I usually target around 2500-3000 with our ACT clutch.

It's your aftermarket clutch. I use the same clutch with my turbo setup and it chatters like crazy when starting off in first or reverse, especially after I've been driving for a while. Its enough for my wife to think there was something wrong with my car. As someone mentioned above, you'll need to get in the habit of revving a bit more at takeoff.

Bingo. I guess this clutch isn't great when it warms up. I still want to replace the factory mounts but I just it's not as major.

As far as tune. The car idles perfectly and drives like a dream. Af and vac and boost is on key.

Easy way to test your motor mounts. With the car off on a flat surface.

- Put car in 1st, no parking brake
- Open hood
- Lean on the front bumper to rock the car back and forth.
- You can watch the motor tilt side to side, failed mounts will move a lot and or make noise.

Ive got the same clutch man and exact same critique on it. It's just the soft OE motor mounts. Like you, they are not high on the list to replace with stiffer ones. The LW flywheel doesn't help NVH or low speed driveability haha

Ok just used my go pro and it looks like the engine movement is so bad it's also hitting my 3" overpipe now.

I think I'm going to order the cusco engine and trans mounts. As I should of install it when I did my clutch and turbo install.

I have the Cusco engine mounts and I barely notice it anymore. a lot of people say that the NVH is bad with them, but it wasn't bad at all. at first, I sure felt the difference but only at idle or low speed. now, I don't even notice that I have aftermarket engine mounts. it's a good mod to do. I have all the drivetrain bushings upgraded and it makes the car feel better for sure (engine mounts, transmission mount, rear shifter mount, rear diff mount inserts & cradle, rear subframe inserts).

Get the Perrin mounts.

Summerwolf 03-21-2016 11:03 AM

Do some research on the mounts before ordering. Cusco are supposed to be pretty harsh.

Does it feel like wheel hop? That's what mine does. Motor mounts are mint, I just pulled the engine yesterday lol
