Have you had your car "tuned" since the installation of the header .... ??

If not, a tune may very well make the CEL go away ..... plus allow the engine to take advantage of the potential extra power it could make due to the aftermarket header.

I never tuned my car yet, so it need to be tuned to make the CEL go away?
Thanks for the info btw.

the CEL is most likely due to the fact that you no longer have a cat in your header. if you get a tune, it will get rid of the CEL and will better optimize your engine for the UEL header.

no it wont blow up :-)

the cel code will be P0420 catylist efficiency as the ecu monitor cat in header and you now have no cat.

your cruise control also will not work with this code and cel active.

you can reset with battery removal or by using an obd tool or scanner like torque android app on your phone and a elm327 adapter.

but its going to keep comming back till you get a tune or you can try a 02 sensor spacer in the REAR 02 sensor

like this
http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/02-Oxygen-S...000?nav=SEARCH

to try to trick ecu that their is still a cat in header, but they dont alway work 100%.

as the other guys said tune is best option

I had it come up for me. As Steve says, most likely P0420 which it was for me. When I checked it with my Powergate3 unit, it stated it was a permanent code, I've only had to clear it once and it hasn't come back.
If you get an OBDII scan tool (worth the money), and torque, you can clear it.
But a tune is always best!
